Dusk in the woods

Early May is my favorite time as the Trillium are popping up in huge numbers but it’s still cool enough for most mosquitos, plus everything else isn’t in bloom so you can see far into the woods.
Spring on the Black River

The Black River flows into Lake Simcoe and this was the first real nice day up in Ontario. I sat down with the I Pad and tried to get more comfortable using Sketchbook Pro. The colors are not the greatest but I still have to figure out how to build my own pallette…the stock colors are not true to what I see, but it’s a pain going back and forth with the color picker. I wish it would be on display full time. Oh well, I will eventually get used to the tools and perhaps get better with these paintings.

The spring in Canada always seems to come late. It teases you with nice weather and then wind, rain, snow and sleet all come at once. When leaves finally emerge, this is a great time to bring out the bright yellow and greens of early spring. The wind picks up and the waves create a nice energy to the once frozen and static scene.
